Terms of service

1. Who we are
Direct From Teachers is run by Stefan Cauchi, a sole trader established in Malta, at 15, Triq Il-Kwartin, Swieqi, Malta, who also runs Teachers Gain. You can reach us at hello@directfromteachers.com. In these terms, "we" and "us" mean Stefan Cauchi, and "the directory" means Direct From Teachers at directfromteachers.com.
2. The directory
The directory lists websites run by teachers who make and sell teaching resources. It is free to browse. We don't sell anything listed, take payments, or take part in any purchase: when you buy, you buy from the seller, on their site or the marketplace it links to, under their terms. We review sites before listing them, but this is not an endorsement or a guarantee of their content, products or services. Questions about a purchase, refund or resource licence belong with the seller.
3. Accounts
You need an account to heart sites or to list your own. You sign in with a code we email you, so keep access to your email account secure. You must be at least 18 and legally able to enter a contract to have an account. By creating an account, you agree to these terms. If you act for a business, you must be authorised to do so. One account can have one listing.
4. Listing your site
Listing is free. To be listed, your site must be your own website for teaching resources you made, not a marketplace store or a link-in-bio page, and it must work and be suitable for a school audience. The details you give us must be accurate, and you must keep them up to date.
You must run the site you list. We confirm this during review using information already available on your site, and may contact you if we need more information. You don't need to modify your website to apply.
Every submission and seller edit is reviewed by a person before it appears; an approved version stays live while an edit waits. We may decline a site that doesn't meet these requirements, and we'll tell you why. We may add or update a screenshot and a confirmed "Made with Teachers Gain" badge.
You keep all rights to your content. You give us a free, non-exclusive worldwide licence to display your site's name, address, logo and description, the details you chose, any creator details and shop or profile links you add, and a screenshot of your site, in the directory, on your listing's page and in link previews, for as long as you're listed. This includes resizing images and creating preview images, with our service providers' help. You confirm you have the rights needed for these uses.
Search and filters select matching listings from their names, descriptions and listing details. Matching listings are shuffled once a day, with the same order for everyone that day. Hearts don't affect the order, and no listing has a guaranteed place.
5. Teachers Gain
Cards for Teachers Gain appear between listings. Teachers Gain is run by the same person as the directory, so these cards and the "Made with Teachers Gain" badge are labelled or linked as sponsored. Being made with Teachers Gain doesn't affect review or a listing's place.
6. Hearts
Signed in, you can heart the sites you like. Each account has one heart per site, and counts are public, though who hearted what is not. Don't try to inflate counts, for example with several accounts. We may remove hearts given that way.
7. Acceptable use and reporting a listing
Don't use the directory for anything unlawful, to list a site you don't run, to infringe another person's rights, to mislead buyers, or to send spam, malware or abusive messages. Don't bypass security or rate limits or disrupt the directory or its users.
If you believe a listed site is unlawful, infringes your rights, or isn't run by the person who listed it, use "Report this listing" on its page while signed in, or email hello@directfromteachers.com with:
- the listing's page address and the specific content concerned
- why you believe it is unlawful or infringes your rights
- your name and email address
- a statement that you believe, in good faith, that the information in your report is accurate and complete
You don't need to give your name or email address if you are reporting content that you believe involves child sexual abuse or exploitation. If you give us an email address, we'll acknowledge your report and tell you the outcome and how to challenge it. We review reports promptly.
We may decline, restrict or remove listings, remove manipulated hearts, or suspend or close accounts for breaches of these terms, including listings that no longer meet the requirements in section 4, or where the law requires it. We consider the seriousness and repetition of a breach. We'll email you the decision, its reasons and how to ask for a review, unless the law prevents disclosure. Decisions and reviews are made by a person. You can also seek a remedy through the courts.
hello@directfromteachers.com is our single point of contact for users and for authorities under the EU Digital Services Act, and we handle messages in English.
8. Leaving and access to your data
You can remove your listing or delete your account at any time from your account page. Deleting your account deletes your listing, logo and hearts, as the privacy policy describes. If we end the service for a business user covered by the EU Platform-to-Business Regulation, we'll email the reasons at least 30 days beforehand, except where that regulation permits earlier termination, such as a legal requirement or repeated breaches.
Your account page lets you see your listing, review feedback and saved hearts. You can ask for a copy of your data before leaving. Sellers see public listings and heart counts, but not other users' emails or who hearted their site. We have access to the information described in the privacy policy to run the directory; it also explains sharing and what remains after deletion.
9. Liability
The directory is free and provided "as is". We aim to keep it running and accurate, but don't guarantee it will always be available or error free. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses arising from listed sites, purchases made on them, or interruptions to the directory. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded by law, and nothing affects the mandatory rights you have as a consumer.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms to reflect changes to the directory or the law. We'll email account holders at least 15 days before changes to their rights or obligations take effect, and allow longer where business users need to make technical or commercial changes. Shorter notice may apply where the law requires it or an unforeseen, imminent security risk requires action. Corrections that don't change the meaning may take effect immediately. You can end your account before changes take effect; otherwise, continued use is subject to the updated terms. Changes don't apply retrospectively unless legally required or beneficial to you.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Malta, and disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the Maltese courts. If you are a consumer in the EU or EEA, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live, and you may also bring proceedings there.
